Ainol V950 has a lot more in common with the LG Prada than Apple’s iPod Touch. The stylish black-and-white home page is a dead giveaway. It has a 2.8 inch (320×240px) non-touch screen, which supports horizontal viewing. It comes with PlayFX for enhanced music and plays MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, FLAC, AVI, FLV, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TXT. It supports additional storage option via miniSD.
The Ainol T20 plays tons of audio and video file type. It also allows for FLV playback allowing users to download off sites like Youtube and watch the videos directly on this player. Most importantly, it receive analog TV signal. The TV function is set to work in most of the countries. It supports these regions : China, USA, Korea, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Philippines, Vietnam, Wester Europe, Turkey, UAE, Afghanistan, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, UK, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Japan. It supports these languages : English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Swiss, Thai, Danish, Polish, Turkish, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew. *TV function is not guaranteed as some regions may not be able to receive the signal.
I found that the design and craftsmanship is far better then I had thought it would be. The fit is very snug / tight, it goes in easy but it wont just ’slide’ out on it’s own. The seams are all double stitched  and there are no ‘loose’ ends or anything of that sort to worry about.
The button holes, cut outs are exactly where they need to be to leave the Player usable while still in the case.  While the button holes are where they should be, and most are very easy to use, the front ones will take some getting use to as they are harder to press.
The hole for the screen itself, is also right where it should be, all of the screen is clearly visable while it is in the leather case.
A very inexpensive but well worth it Leather case to protect your V2000/SE, from harm.
Ainol is launching the new S100 portable media player (PMP) with a 3″ 400 x 240 resolution display, touch-sensitive keypad, RM, RMVB, AVI, DAT, ASP, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MPG, FLV, MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC file format support, and 8GB internal flash memory as well as four different colors to choose from: red, blue, purple, black and silver.
Introduction:
The Ainol V2000SE is the second edition of the V2000 series. Lacking the ‘game port’ of it’s predecessor. The V2000SE has a 3″ Inch Viewable LTPS TFT screen and it is an amazing screen, capable of displaying 16 million colors and viewable from almost all angles. It can also play a large number of audio and video file types, most importantly high resolutions without affecting video playback. It has trhe ‘ChinaChip’ Jz4740 - Core speed: 360mHz System: 160mHz. Made in the following Capacity 2GB/4GB. Also has an Expansion Slot: Mini SD Slot (512mb - 32GB) - Supports SDHC
Design:
The Ainol V2000Se is very solid. To prevent scratching, Ainol Provides a thin coat of plastic that covers the front face and back metal, much like a screen protector. I do recomend though purchasing a good scren protector prior to removing the factory one, Hate to scratch such a good quality screen. The button layout, is somewhat backwards and not very game friendly. For instance the Volume buttons; where you would expect the upper button to turn the sound up - it turns it down.
Expansion Slot:
Mini SD Slot dose supports SDHC. I have tested with an 8Gb Micro inside a mini adapter, and it reads/plays without any problems. The SDHC format currently is standard up to the 32GB Sd card at this time.
Screen:
3″ Inch Viewable LTPS TFT screen capable of displaying 16 million colors and viewable from almost all angles, and can handle high resolutions without affecting video playback. Viewing the 320×240 (optimal for Xvid) 640×480 (Max for RMVB) The 4:3 Aspect ratio is very clean and crisp when compared to other screen displays.
User Interface /GUI:
The V2000SE interface is accessed by the buttons along the right edge and also along the top of the player. The pad has 9 tactile buttons: VOl. up / down [also used in navagation in the GUI]; power button along the top of the unit. And the menu, Esc/Back, forward, Reverse, and the play/Pause anlong the right edge.
The graphical user interface is simple, but is very user friendly. It is text based and can bee seen in multiple languages: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish. There are a few mis-spellings in the firmware, and it does not like the letter ‘M’ for some reason. Overall the GUI is prety good and easy to learn and read.
Audio:
Playback Formats: Include - MP3, WMA, WMA/VBR, APE, and FLAC. Overall I am very happy with the audio quality; it is very clean and highly customizable, and although the internal speaker is not very loud - the use of a decent pair of headphones will make a big difference - does come with a good headphone set. Built in Equalizer that has a Customizable EQ and 7 Preset EQ. However most have found that the ‘normal’ setting or ‘jaz’[yes ‘Jaz’ as it is mis-speeled in the GUI] Sounds the best as it has a high output of bass from the start. It does have playlists and song / track order that you can set up the way you like. Music can also be played while reading from the E-Book or while viewing the Images on the Player.
Video:
Formats Supported are - RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, DAT, ASF, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MPG.
The video on the 320 x 240 pixel 3.0″ LTPS screen is very nice to watch. The JZ Chip is capable of playing larger sized video files then it’s 320X240 screen, by Converting them as it plays, up to 800X640 I have used with the AVI file format. The frame rate is 25 to 30 FPS so playback looks very good, NO choppyness or ‘lag’ not even in videos with a lot of action. The compatible video format is AVI [XviD codec] with MP3 audio up to 256kbps. Converting video’s: There are a lot of very good ‘free’ converters that work very well, such as VIDrop. Also it has resume for ALL of your video files, you can start watching one or ten different ones, stop even turn the player off, come back and resume from where you left off on any one of them.
Images:
This player can handle four different photo file types, JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG. Photo browsing is a thumbnail grid which can be browsed manually or put on a slide show. Photos can also be made into your your backgrounds for the differnt functions, one for FM screen, One for the main menu, etc…
Other Features:
-FM Radio:
Radio reception is fair and will ONLY work when you have your headphones pluged in - it will not work with the built in speaker. The radio also features auto programming, but can be manually set, and FM recording. The FM radio can also be used while viewing Images or reading the E-Book.
-Battery Life:
The battery lasts much longer then the spec sheet says it would. I think this is due to the LTPS screen -
uses less power then other types, and I did convert my Videos down to 320X240, to keep the file sizes small. On the internal 4GB I can keep about 350 MP3 music files and four full movies in DVD quality.
-E-Book reader:
Uses the TXT format, and does have resume. You can exit, even shut the player off and still come right back to where you last left.Built in Speaker, Firmware Upgradable, Resume play for Video and Ebook Only - Not any of the music
- Games:
It is shipped with four games installed: Snakes, Erros, Candy House and Brick [AKA Block Breaker]. I have found that well the buttons are not laid out for optimum game play, the games include are playable. Brick and Snake being the easiest of them.
-Voice Recording:
Voice recording worked just as expected. The microphone is able to record normal conversations.
-Firmware:
It is upgradable version 1.11 being the current one.
Also, there are applications for making ‘custom’ firmwares where you can change some of the backgrounds and file structure… However, the use of ‘custom’ firmwares is cautioned against if done incorrectly, you can ‘brick’ your player if your not sure what / how your doing it.
Accessories:
Included Accessories with the V2000SE are a Wall Charger, Headphones, USB Cable and a Manual. The Headphones a very good quality set. The wall charger can be used when you dont have it connected to your PC. The Manual however, comes in Chinese….But the GUI and button layout makes it very easy to figure it out.
Ainol Has also made a Leather case for this and the V2000 player that has a custom fit for the buttons and the screen. Not included sad to say…
Conclusion:
I was very happy with this player from Ainol, it is my third MP4/PMP that I have purchased. As I wanted this mostly for the video playback, the LTPS 3″ screen was perfect for me. Sound and functions all work as expected. No video converting software was included, but there are so many good free ones this made no difference. It supports most of the audio and video formats while the continuous playback time is excellent.

Still without a price and should be available with 4GB and additional storage option via microSD.
